USF faculty member co-authors study showing children are undercounted in Covid-19 data

April 13, 2020 - A faculty member at the USF Health College of Public Health, Jason Salemi, is among the authors of a new study that shows far more children are likely to be Covid-19 positive than has been reported. For every child who requires intensive care for Covid-19, there are likely 2,381 children actually infected with the virus, according to the new peer-reviewed study published April 9 in JPHMP Direct, a companion publication to the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice.  The findings could impact overall data and show that the potential demand on the health care system and pediatric intensive care units is vastly underestimated, USF Health said.
