Westin Tampa Bay lays off 75 workers

August 18, 2020 - The Westin Tampa Bay has eliminated 75 positions. The hotel, at 7627 W. Courtney Campbell Causeway in Tampa, originally furloughed the 75 workers in March, at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, which adversely impacted business operations. "At this time, the company cannot anticipate when it will be able to recall employees, so the layoffs/furloughs will be considered permanent," the hotel said in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. Restaurant and banquet servers, as well as cooks, were the largest categories of jobs eliminated.
