Woman killed in PSTA bus crash

December 22, 2025 - A Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority bus driver drove through a red light in St. Petersburg at approximately 8:40 p.m. Saturday, causing a crash that killed a woman riding in an SUV, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said Israel Sanabria, 38, was heading west on Roosevelt Boulevard and stopped at a red light at Lake Carillon Drive. The light was still red when the bus operator attempted to make a left turn and crossed in front of a Nissan Armada. Sanabria, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the bus and taken to the hospital with injuries. A 57-year-0ld Clearwater woman who was riding in the Armada was seriously injured and later died at a hospital.
