ZooTampa mourns iconic Florida panther Lucy

February 16, 2026 - ZooTampa at Lowry Park announced the death of Calusa, known as Lucy, a critically endangered Florida panther who lived at the zoo for nearly two decades. Rescued as a dehydrated cub in 2007, she became a global ambassador for her species, appearing on a U.S. postage stamp and a New York skyscraper. Lucy, 18½, was euthanized after a battle with cancer as her health declined.
