16 Tampa-St. Pete area companies make the Seminole 100

One hundred fast-growing businesses owned or managed by alumni of Florida State University were recognized at the Seminole 100 celebration in Tallahassee.
Honorees included 16 companies headquartered in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
The companies were ranked based on their compound annual growth rate. EY verified information for all the companies on the list. The Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship at FSU hosted the celebration.
Boomerang Transportation LLC, a logistics firm in Tampa offering freight transportation services, was the highest-ranked local company, placing No. 3 on the list. Boomerang, founded in 2014 and led by Jon Novak, CEO, had a 161.77 percent compound annual growth rate over three years.

The top company on the Seminole 100 list was Blue Air Training, an air support training service headquartered in Las Vegas. Blue Air, led by CEO James “Chef” Barlow, had 188.22 percent compound annual growth rate over three years.
To qualify for the Seminole 100, a company must have operated for at least three years and generated revenue by Jan. 1, 2015. In addition, the business must have been owned or majority-managed by an FSU graduate for three consecutive years prior to its nomination.
