Hero To A Child seeks volunteers for teen conference
Hero To A Child works to transform the lives of children and youth in the child welfare system through strong partnerships with service providers throughout the community.
On Thursday, June 18 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., the organization is presenting the 3rd annual Adulting 101 Teen Conference for teens 14 years and older in the child welfare system, along with their foster parents, caregivers and guardians. With the help of nonprofits and other support agencies, the conference helps to connect teens with resources and services available to them as they age out of the foster care system.
On June 16 (two days before the conference), from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., volunteers are needed to help prepare for the event, with tasks such as stuffing attendee bags, laminating materials, preparing game materials and general event prep and assembly. On June 18, from 8 until 11 a.m., a registration team is needed to greet attendees and caregivers, check in registered participants, assist vendors, distribute conference materials and bags, and hand out raffle tickets. Click to learn more about this volunteer opportunity.
On June 18, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., an afternoon support team is needed to help with lunch service, assist speakers and panelists, distribute resources and giveaways at the teen table, and help with event breakdown and cleanup at the conclusion of the conference. All volunteers must be 16 and older.
The conference takes place at the SPC Epicenter, 13805 58th Street N., Clearwater.
Pilates for a Purpose
On Saturday, June 20 at 12 p.m., FS8 St. Petersburg, a Pilates, tone and yoga studio, will be offering a one-hour donation-based Pilates class to benefit CASA (Community Action Stops Abuse).
CASA is the official domestic violence center for Pinellas County and has been providing lifesaving services for over 40 years to women, children and men living with domestic violence.
The cost for the class is $20. All fees will be donated to support CASA’s services, including legal advocacy, counseling, housing and more.
Beginning at 10 a.m., the studio is also hosting a vendor pop-up and donation drive for CASA’s Thrift Boutique. The store accepts men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, household items such as small appliances, cookware, dishes and flatware, and like-new furniture. Anyone donating items will automatically be entered into a raffle to win a prize basket.

Volunteer training for Largo Public Library ELL program
The Largo Public Library is holding a training and orientation workshop on Saturday, June 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. for those interested in volunteering for the library’s English Language Learning (ELL) program.
Participants will learn about the program’s policies and procedures, receive an in-depth tour of the library and meet current ELL volunteers.
Opportunities include providing behind-the-scenes administrative support, and developing four to six-week program courses with a partner or small team.
Volunteers are asked to work a minimum of six months. The workshop will be held in the Largo Public Library’s ELL Seminar Room at 120 Central Park Drive, Largo.

Volunteer with the Marine Exploration Center
St. Petersburg’s Marine Exploration Center partners with local businesses, schools and nonprofit organizations to educate Tampa Bay residents and students about the marine habitats in the region.
Serving St. Petersburg for over 30 years, the organization provides aquarium consultation, design, installation and maintenance services to support education goals. It also offers a mobile aquarium that bring hands-on marine science and environmental education to public and private events, school groups, summer camps and more.
Volunteers are needed to assist aquarist staff with daily and weekly food preparation, feeding marine animals, working at education programs onsite and at mobile aquarium events, and cleaning and maintaining aquarium systems.
Opportunities are available both weekdays and weekends, and volunteers are asked to work approximately three hours per week. Participants must be 16 years or older, agree to a background check and attend an orientation.
Dinner and Duds for the Homeless
Dinner and Duds for the Homeless provides hot meals, clean clothing and toiletries to those in need in Pinellas County.
Every Saturday, beginning at 2 p.m., dinner is served in the picnic area of 100 Mirror Lake Drive and then at St. Vincent DePaul Cares at 401 15th Street N. Volunteers are always needed to help serve food and pass out toiletries and clothing.
While much of the food is donated, many items have to be purchased, such as paper products, condiments, staples (eggs, milk, butter, sugar, flour) and first aid supplies. Cash donations help offset these costs.

Volunteer with Neighborly
Since 1966, Neighborly Senior Care Network, based in Clearwater, has been serving the elderly population in Pinellas County with programs to improve health, wellness and independent living for individuals and families.
Volunteer opportunities are available in the following areas:
Senior Café: Assist staff with packing totes and meals, help with meal service, clean bins, roll silverware and engage with dining site participants. Shifts are Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Meals on Wheels: Deliver lunchtime meals to homebound seniors throughout Pinellas County. Shifts usually last about two hours - most often weekdays between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Transportation Drivers: Transport Neighborly clients to and from medical appointments and pharmacies. No wheelchairs or lifting involved. Shifts usually last two to four hours between 8:45 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Volunteers must pass a background check and attend an in-person orientation.

1980s Murder Mystery Charity Dinner
Fraternal Order of Eagles 3452 is hosting a 1980s Reunion Murder Mystery Charity Dinner, "Panic at the Prom," Saturday, June 6 from 6 until 8 p.m. Guests watch the mystery unfold and together help solve the case.
Proceeds will benefit Hope Villages, whose mission is to support Pinellas County neighbors who are facing hunger, homelessness, domestic violence or a lack of basic needs.
Guests are encouraged to dress up in their favorite '80s gear.
Dinner will include salad, a full pasta bar, breadsticks and dessert. Also included are a 50/50 raffle and prizes for the best dressed and biggest '80s hair.
The event will take place at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 1485 Gulf to Bay Boulevard, Clearwater.
Cleanup at Madeira Beach
MAR (Mindful Action for Regeneration) is hosting a Madeira beach clean-up event Saturday, June 13 from 9 until 11 a.m.
Volunteers will work together to remove litter and marine debris from the beach and contribute to a healthier environment.
Participants should wear comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes or sandals. Sunscreen, a hat and work gloves are recommended. Cleanup supplies, including buckets, grabbers and trash bags will be provided.
Volunteers 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
The meeting location is Archibald Beach Park, 15100 Gulf Blvd., Madeira Beach. Parking will be validated for volunteers.
Volunteer at the Largo Golf Course
The Largo Golf Course is seeking volunteers to assist with several areas of the operation, including the cart barn, starter, ranger, maintenance and more.
Volunteers are an important part of the daily golf course experience and help the team provide excellent customer service to patrons and the community.

Dairy Queen Balloon Campaign
For 42 years, the Children’s Miracle Network and Dairy Queen have partnered together to raise and donate more than $195 million to member children’s hospitals.
These funds support critical life-saving treatments and healthcare services, along with innovative research, vital pediatric medical equipment, and financial assistance for families who could not otherwise afford these health services.
From June 1 through July 30, participating Dairy Queen locations in Pinellas and neighboring counties will donate proceeds from the sale of Children’s Miracle Network balloon icons to John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.
And on July 30, Miracle Treat Day, participating locations will also donate proceeds from the sale of all Dairy Queen Blizzards to All Children’s.
