For 10 years, Beacon has shone a powerful light on the vast array of dance talent in the Tampa Bay area.

Choreographers who create in all disciplines of contemporary dance have looked to Beacon, an annual concert at St. Petersburg’s Palladium Theater, to spotlight what they can do with movement, blended organically  with music, video or other assorted visual accoutrements.

Dancer Helen Hansen French, a St. Pete native, is one of the co-founders of Beacon. In advance of tonight’s 10th anniversary concert, she sat down for an Arts Alive! podcast interview.

More than 25 artists, including choreographers, dancers and visual creators have contributed to tonight’s event – the list includes Peter Chu, Madison Pineda Bender, Alexander Jones and  projectALCHEMY,  Sarah Philips’ Atlas Modern Ballet, Dwayne Scheuneman and  REVolutions Dance, Sharon McCaman –  and Helen Hansen French. It’s a veritable Godiva sampler.
