Florida Holocaust Museum begins online educational programs
The good work goes on at the Florida Holocaust Museum, which has unveiled an interactive weekly educational series.
At 1 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, the museum – via its Facebook page – will stream videos and display items in its collection, each session followed by a question-and-answer session with a member of the FHM staff – and, in certain cases, with the actual person whose story is being shared.
Announced this morning:
Every Tuesday is “Testimony Tuesday”; the museum will share a video testimony from a Holocaust survivor or a Second Generation survivor. From 1 to 2 p.m., the Holocaust Survivor or Second Generation will be readily available to answer questions submitted through the Facebook page and to interact with the community in real time.
Every Wednesday is “Artifact Wednesday”; the FHM will highlight a different artifact from the museum’s collection. From 1 to 2 p.m., the FHM’s Curator or Exhibitions and Collections or the FHM’s Registrar and Exhibitions Manager will be readily available to answer questions submitted through the Facebook page and to interact with the community in real time.
Every Thursday is “Lesson Thursday”; the FHM will post a video from the museum’s Education team, with various lessons and educational themes, including resources and topics that can be used in a virtual classroom. From 1 to 2 p.m., a Museum Educator will be readily available to answer questions submitted through the Facebook page and to interact with the community in real time.
A note on the FHM website reads: “Although we are temporarily closed to the public, the Museum’s artifacts and building are being maintained and kept secure. Operational and security staff are remaining on site, and Museum staff will be working and checking their emails.”
