Gianfilippo sells Cordova Inn
The Cordova Inn, an historic property in downtown St. Petersburg, has a new owner.
GF FH Pier LLC, a Tampa company managed by entrepreneur Steve Gianfilippo, sold the Cordova Inn property at 253 2nd Ave. N. to TDZ Cordova on Dec. 18 for $3 million, according to Pinellas County property records.
TDZ Cordova is a Largo company headed by Alex Hodges, who is CEO at Arcadia Resorts Club and The New Hotel Collection. He is also a partner at TDZ Capital, a private equity firm in Largo.
Neither Gianfilippo nor Hodges responded to requests for comment on the deal.
The hotel is now named New Hotel Collection Downtown St Pete, according to the New Hotel Collection website. It joins a family of properties that include Harbourside Resort in Indian Rocks Beach and Beachside Resort in Indian Shores, as well as The Historic Central Hotel in Sevierville, Tennessee.
The Cordova Inn, with about 12,200 square feet and 32 units, was built in 1921. The Cordova family sold the hotel in the early 1950s, according to the hotel’s website. It had several owners over the next 50 years. In 2001 it underwent extensive renovations and was renamed The Pier Hotel.
Gianfilippo bought it in 2014 for $1.35 million, according to county records. He took back the original Cordova Inn name.
The Cordova Inn was one of four historic downtown St. Petersburg properties he owns. The others are Station House, a co-working space at 260 1st Ave. S.; Coronet 300, a 10-story apartment building at 300 Central Ave.; and the the Green-Richman Arcade at 689 Central Ave.
