On Aug. 4, members of ASPEC (the Academy of Senior Professionals at Eckerd College) held a discussion, via Zoom, about the proposed redevelopment of St. Petersburg’s Historic Gas Plant site, also known as Tropicana Field or the Trop. A subgroup of members have been involved with the city on the revisions to the RFP (Request for Proposals) for the multibillion-dollar redevelopment. Moderator Peter Kent attended the July 28 public meeting on the RFP at the University of South Florida. Combining the background information with the audience participation, he has identified about 21 special interest groups who want the RFP written to benefit a cause in which they believe. This talk quickly covers many of these special interests, and discusses if and why they should or shouldn’t be included.

Moderator Peter Kent led a professional engineering team which designed The Luther Forest, a 6,000-acre new city around Saratoga Lake, N.Y., which attracted a multibillion-dollar facility from the chip manufacturer Global Foundries.
