Five ways you can give back this week

If you’re searching for a way to give back, the Catalyst’s Impact Connector is here to help. Each week, we feature five organizations in the Tampa Bay area that need assistance. We’re certain you’ll find something that matches your interests, location and schedule.

Hygiene products needed

Florida Dream Center needs hygiene products to deliver to those in need in our community. You can bring shampoo, razors, body wash, laundry detergent, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes to 4017 56th Ave. N. in St. Petersburg, Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Adopt free shelter pets

Mark your calendar for a clear-the-shelter event at SPCA Tampa Bay. Traditionally, adoption prices range from $30 to $400, but on Saturday, Aug. 26, they will be waived. Doors will open at 10 a.m. that morning. If you have young members of your family and other pets like dogs, please arrange for them to meet your new adoptable pet at SPCA Tampa Bay. SPCA Tampa Bay warns families to be prepared for a big crowd and many excited animal lovers ready to adopt a free pet. For more information, visit spcatampabay.org/clear-the-shelters.

Creative Clay volunteer opportunities

Creative Clay’s mission is to help people with disabilities achieve full and inclusive lives by providing expressive, educational and vocational experiences in the arts. Volunteers are needed to help in the following areas: Studio assistant, gallery/reception area, office assistant, Creative Thrift store and special events like Spring for the Arts and First Friday Art Market.

Nourishing our communities

Good Neighbors helps connect food with individuals in need to help eliminate food insecurity. As a volunteer with Good Neighbors, you’ll help collect quality surplus food from local grocery stores and restaurants and bring it directly to families, senior citizens and others who need it. Each carload can feed about five families of four for a week. That’s almost 200 meals going to people who need them most. Learn more and sign up here.

Donate unused furniture

The Pineapple Projects is a nonprofit extending a helping hand to less fortunate families in Pinellas County that are starting over and need help turning a house into a home. You can help by donating your time to help move furniture, or donating home furnishings you’re no longer using. Learn more at thepineappleprojects.org/how.
