Tribal Burn: Steampunk Revival to light up Sacred Lands Nov. 18
Hip Expressions Belly Dance Studio resurrects the fantasy world of Steampunk in its autumn fundraiser for Sacred Lands, Tribal Burn: Steampunk Revival.
See local and guest dancers light up Saturday, November 18, with their unique take on Steampunk and dancing with fire.
Where there’s steam, can fire be far off?
On November 18, the cultural and botanic gem that is Sacred Lands lights up with the unique fire dancing of members of Hip Expressions Belly Dance Studio in Tribal Burn: Steampunk Revival. The show is a fundraiser for Sacred Lands, which honors the indigenous cultures and heritages that Hip Expressions also supports through dance.
“We are so blessed to have the cultural institution of Sacred Lands that educates about the indigenous Tocobaga tribe, who made Tampa Bay their home, and protects us from the hurricanes!” said Hip Expressions Owner and Instructor Johanna ‘Zenobia’ Krynytzky. “We at Hip Expressions honor the arts from many cultures around the world, and we are excited to create this fundraiser for these Sacred Lands of St. Pete! Let’s burn that Sacred Fire!”
The Tribal Burn audience will see the fantasy world of Steampunk come to life through amazing costumes and sets, and the epic fire belly dance performances for which Tribal Burn is known. Steampunk is inspired by Victorian-era industrialism (especially powered by steam). It fuses turn of the century technology, art nouveau, clothing fashions, and influences from films featuring that time period. The show is directed by Karen Sun Ray Coletti, Performance Director and co-founder of Hip Expressions.
A VIP ticket for $89 includes early admission to Sacred Lands at 6:30 p.m., front-row table for the 8 p.m. show, and dinner by Virtual Soft Jazz Café. The audience in the front row often participates in show antics!
General seating is $39 before the show and $44 at the door. A Zoom option also is available for $20 to watch in the comfort of your home. Purchase tickets and see video highlights of Tribal Burn, at www.hipexpressions.com/experience.
