Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital named Melissa Macogay, M.B.A., B.S.N., R.N., C.C.R.N.-K., N.E.-B.C. as vice president and chief nursing officer this week. A registered nurse for more than 19 years, Macogay started as a nurse in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She joined Johns Hopkins All Children’s in 2008 and served in multiple roles including, interim chief nursing officer, director of the PICU, surgical neuroscience unit and dialysis as well as senior director of nursing for the Institute for Brain Protection Sciences. “At Johns Hopkins All Children’s, nurses are the lifeline of our community and we’re honored to have a new leader to support our outstanding nursing staff,” said Jonathan Ellen, M.D., president and vice dean at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. “As we work toward obtaining Magnet status, a recognition for hospitals that provide exemplary nursing care, the hard work of our nursing staff, along with Melissa’s continued and trusted leadership, are vital as we focus on the precise details required to reach this prestigious milestone.” Macogay holds an M.B.A. from Baker College, a B.S.N., is certified in critical care and also is a board-certified nurse executive from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Association of Critical Care Nurses, American Organization of Nurse Executives and the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses. In addition to naming the chief nursing officer, Johns Hopkins All Children’s added the position of associate chief nursing officer, which will be filled by Lisa Kerrick, M.B.A., B.S.N., R.N., C.N.O.R., C.S.S.M., F.A.C.H.E., N.E.A.-B.C. Kerrick has more than 29 years of nursing experience and joined the organization in April 2014 as the senior director of perioperative services.
