Morean Iconic: Paint St. Pete Edition Announces First Set of Competing Artists
ST. PETERSBURG, FL, Feb. 24, 2024 – The Morean Arts Center will be filling downtown with plein air artists competing to paint the most iconic St. Pete imagery. Morean Iconic: Paint St. Pete will consist of daytime live painting and evening showcasing intended to connect art enthusiasts while supporting local art.
Outdoor painting stations will have active artists from 10am with specifics listed on the event website (www.moreanartscenter.org/iconicstpete). The first set of artists will include Barbara Beyhl, Bill Castleman, Shawn Dell Joyce, Kerry Didday, John Doyle, Joyce Ely Walker, Sandy Hall, Joanna Hammond, Janie Haskins, Kim Wilder Hinson, Patricia Kluwe Derderian, Alice Levy, Vanessa Montenegro, Sarah Schaller and Brittany Worlinsky, with more to come. Each artist will have a QR code for bidding on their paintings as they are being made. This battle of the brushes will be open for all to enjoy.
The main fundraising event takes place at the Morean Center for Clay from 7-10pm. Attendees will be able to view final masterpieces, bid on their favorites, and cast their vote for the most captivating artist. The painter with the most votes will win the People’s Choice award of $500. The Judges’ Choice will be awarded $500 as well as a solo exhibition at the Morean Arts Center.
This celebration benefits the 107-year-old Morean Arts Center’s mission while highlighting fresh artists and their work. This festive atmosphere features engaging art stations, local food trucks and an elevated open bar. Join in for an unforgettable evening of engaging entertainment, creativity, and support of the arts.
Tickets run $150 for members and $175 for not-yet-members.
