YMCA OF GREATER ST. PETERSBURG SETS KIDS UP FOR A HEALTHY START TO THE SUMMER AT HEALTHY KIDS DAY

Free and open to the public, this annual event features a day of fun-filled activities to celebrate  kids being kids. 

YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg is hosting the Y’s annual  Healthy Kids Day® April 20, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at each of its three wellness center locations – Bardmoor YMCA, Jim & Heather Gills YMCA, and Speer YMCA. This free, annual  event features a variety of family-friendly activities to encourage healthy kids, healthy families, and a healthy start to the summer season. 

Some featured activities* include: 

Music 

Healthy snacks 

Interactive exercise demos 

Face painting 

Bounce house 

Giveaways & prizes 

Obstacle course 

Kid-friendly vendors will also be onsite offering fun activities and information for families. *Activities may vary by site. 

The Healthy Kids Day event at the new Speer YMCA will include a special ribbon-cutting event  at 10:30 a.m. for the recently opened Publix Sportplex, made possible by a generous  sponsorship. Officials from Publix and YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg will be in attendance to  mark and celebrate this event. 

“It is so important, both physically and mentally, for kids to stay active over the summer,” said  Ashley Carter, Association Youth and Family Director. “At the Y, we believe in providing  resources for families to create healthy habits, no matter the time of year. Healthy Kids Day is  a fun, free community-wide event that encourages families to take advantage of all the great  summer activities the Y has to offer.”  

Healthy Kids Day is sponsored locally by Publix Charities, Inc. Sponsored nationally by Peanuts,  Healthy Kids Day’s mission is to turn fun and play into lifelong memories.
