
NOAA predicts ‘extraordinary’ hurricane season
May 23, 2024 - The Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1, and National Atmospheric and Oceanic Administration (NOAA)forecasters have predicted an “extraordinary” year with up to 25 named storms. Director Rick Spinrad said the forecast “is the highest NOAA has ever issued for the May outlook” at a press conference Thursday. The organization expects four to seven hurricanes with winds over 111 mph.
