Donate to Pet Pal Thrift Store
The Pet Pal no-kill animal shelter in St. Petersburg is in need of donations for its thrift shop. Proceeds from the thrift shop contribute to Pet Pal’s mission of rescuing more animals and finding them happy homes.
If you are busy spring cleaning, consider donating your unwanted clothes, accessories and home items to Pet Pal Thrift Store, located at 1500 34th St. N. #5460. Donations can be dropped off Wednesday through Sunday between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Interested in Volunteering with a Group?
Invite a group of friends, family or coworkers for a rewarding, fast-paced, impactful volunteer day with Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties. Habitat’s volunteer days are extremely hands-on and are a great learning opportunity for those new to home construction, all while making a difference in the community.
Feed a child this summer
Summertime is almost here, and for many children in our community, so is hunger.
When schools let out for summer, there’s a pause in free or reduced breakfast and lunch programs. This means the last day before vacation at area schools will also be some students’ last day of consistent meals.
You can support children facing food insecurity this summer by donating to Feeding Tampa Bay. The nonprofit recently opened a new headquarters, allowing the organization to reach even more families who need help putting food on the table. According to Feeding Tampa Bay, every $1 you donate provides five meals. You can donate online here..
Volunteers pass out boxes of groceries at Positive Impact Ministries’ weekly distribution event. Positive Impact has been distributing groceries at Tangerine Plaza since 2020.
Grocery distribution in South St. Pete
Every Saturday, Positive Impact Ministries passes out boxes of groceries to hundreds of local families in need. Volunteers help pack boxes and load them into trunks at the drive-up distribution event at Tangerine Plaza.
Individuals, school groups (students 8 years or older), church groups, civic groups, friends and neighbors are welcome. To learn more and sign up, visit PositiveImpact.org.

Preschool Garden Attendant needed
Do you have a green thumb? Are you passionate about children learning to eat right from the start and having access to fresh fruits and vegetables? If so, the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg’s Ross Roeder and Mary Anne Reilly Teaching Garden at the Speer YMCA Preschool Academy could use your help!
The Preschool Garden Attendant will help oversee the general upkeep of the garden, including watering, weeding and planting. Tomatoes, peppers, lettuce and watermelon are just a few of the things the preschoolers enjoy harvesting. The schedule is flexible, but weekly attendance is preferred. Apply online here.
