Lealman, FL—As of October 8th, 2024, the Lealman Exchange (LEX) is not operating as a general-population shelter due to ongoing storm recovery efforts. The facility is currently closed to the public, with only the Helene shelter team and emergency crews stationed there.

Residents seeking shelter from Hurricane Milton are advised to consider the following available options:

  • New Heights Elementary School – Newly opened to accommodate overflow, located at 3901 37th St. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33714.
  • Gibbs High School – Nearing capacity and currently out of parking spaces.

General population shelters do not accept pets; however, three County emergency shelters do welcome pets. A full list of available Pinellas County emergency shelters can be found at disaster.pinellas.gov.
