Five ways to give back and get involved in St. Pete
If you’re searching for a way to give back to your community, the Catalyst’s Impact Connector is here to help. Each week, we feature five organizations in the Tampa Bay area that need your input, whether that’s time, talent, items, funding or simply awareness. We’re certain you’ll find something here that matches your interests and will positively impact the community.
Fosters Needed
Four-month-old Australian Cattle/Hound mix puppies recently arrived from Pasco County Animal Services and are in need of foster homes. The pups are looking for comfortable, temporary homes or potential foster-to-adopt situations.
If you’re interested in helping, reach out to foster@suncoastanimalleague.org with information about yourself.

Mentors Needed
January is National Mentoring Month, and Pinellas County Schools (PCS) is recruiting new mentors to interact with students. Mentor a student for just 30 minutes once a week and make a difference in a child’s life.
There are hundreds of PCS students needing mentors. PCS has nearly 1,700 mentors that serve 2,253 mentees. Some mentors meet with two or three students or more a week. Mentoring can be done in person or virtually, one-on-one or in a group setting. Learn about PCS Mentoring here.
Individual Mentor Programs include:
Lunch Pals
Take Stock in Children
Serve on City Boards and Committees
The City of St. Petersburg is recruiting residents to serve on various boards and committees. Current vacancies include positions on the Advisory Commission on Aging, Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, Nuisance Abatement Board, Public Arts Commission and Social Services Allocation Committee.
Each board or committee works with internal departments and City Council to serve St. Pete residents. Click here for the list of vacancies.
By engaging in these five impactful ways to give back, we can empower our communities and contribute to a more compassionate society. If your organization is seeking volunteers, donations or awareness, click here to submit your opportunity. We’ll get the word out to our readers.
