Brahms’ German Requiem will be featured at First Presbyterian Church’s 38th Annual Festival of Praise on Sunday, April 6 at 4 PM. Hear the combined voices of the Tampa Oratorio Singers with church choir members and community vocalists as they perform this masterwork in its original form. The performance is the culmination of a four-day choral workshop lead by clinician Nancy Callahan.

The German Requiem spans a full spectrum of human emotion with statements of celebration and hope, sadness and triumph, and provides a blessing of consolation, comfort, and peace. It is often cited as the pinnacle of Brahms’ career, showcasing his love for both voice and orchestra. The familiar chorus “How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place” highlights themes of comfort and solace.

This performance is part of First Presbyterian Church’s Concert Series. For more information, go to www.fpcstpete.com First Presbyterian Church, 701 Beach Drive NE, St. Petersburg.
