Raise a puppy and change a life! Southeastern Guide Dogs is looking for volunteer puppy raisers in the St. Pete area. Puppies from the organization are placed into volunteer’s homes for about a year. During this time raisers will take the puppies on outings around the community, attend meetings with other puppy raisers, and teach basic skills for a well-rounded, working dog.

Interested raisers should know the following information:
-No experience is needed. Puppy Raising Services will provide a supportive team and the tools to succeed in this volunteer role.
-Puppy raisers should be 18 years of age or older. Older teens may take on the responsibility of raising a puppy if a parent or guardian agree to share the responsibility.
-Southeastern Guide Dogs covers the puppy’s veterinary care expenses. Puppy raisers cover the cost of food, crate, approved toys, etc.
-Puppies begin their in-home experience around nine weeks old and return to Southeastern Guide Dogs after a year for guide dog or service dog training.
-Puppy raisers can have other dogs or pets in the house.

And if you’d like to speak with someone, we have puppy raisers who would be happy to share their experiences.
