Arts Alive! podcast: Greg Billings

Bill DeYoung

Published

on

One of the most popular rock ‘n’ roll singers in this part of Florida for more than a quarter century, Greg Billings has a lot of history to chew over.

That’s just what he does on this edition of our Arts Alive! podcast.

The first section of the conversation, sadly, is taken up by Billings’ frank discussion of his 11-year struggle with prostate cancer, which recently returned after a long remission. He says he decided to talk openly about it – and his ongoing treatments – because internet rumors about his health have been in overdrive recently. He wants to set the record straight.

Billings is in good spirits and relentlessly positive during the interview, which delves into the mythology of Stranger, his uber-popular ‘80s and ‘90s band, his more recent musical endeavors and his considerable charity work in Pinellas County.
