
City dedicates $100,000 annually to environmental education
February 7, 2025 - The City of St. Petersburg has agreed to a five-year funding agreement with the University of South Florida College of Marine to support the Clam Bayou Marine Education Center. The city’s annual $100,000 contribution will bolster education initiatives and provide students and educators with hands-on learning opportunities that foster environmental stewardship, career development and scientific proficiency. Mayor Ken Welch said the partnership will ensure equitable access to transformative experiences that help youth address environmental challenges.
