Poliverse: PSTA board member challenges agency over tax warnings

The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority removed a Facebook post warning of major service cuts under Amendment 3, after one of its own board members accused the agency of illegally using taxpayer money to influence voters.

Pinellas County Commissioner Vince Nowicki, who also serves on PSTA's governing board, sent CEO Brad Miller a letter Wednesday night demanding that the agency remove its Amendment 3 materials, preserve related records and account for the public money spent producing them.

In November, the City of St. Petersburg will ask residents to vote on a general obligation bond of up to $600 million to finance storm resilience improvements to stormwater, wastewater and potable water infrastructure systems. 

City of St. Petersburg public works administrator Claude Tankersley joined St. Pete Catalyst publisher Joe Hamilton Tuesday evening via Zoom for a community conversation on the topic. The event was hosted in partnership with the League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area.
