Family sells Bay Pines Marina after more than 50 years

St. Petersburg-based Bay Pines Marina, which was owned and operated by the Travis family for more than 50 years, was sold to Bowline Marinas Aug. 5 for $5.2 million.

The 7.9-acre property, located at 5000 92nd Street N., features a 31,500 square-foot prefinished metal structure that provides 300 dry stack spaces, 60 wet slips and an on-site tiki bar and restaurant.

PV: Edwards seeks extension on Mahaffey management contract

Bill Edwards, CEO of Big 3 Entertainment, appeared before the St. Petersburg City Council on Thursday, requesting an extension and modification to the company’s management agreement for the Duke Energy Center for the Arts – Mahaffey Theater, which Big 3 has overseen since 2011.

The theater, originally built in 1965, underwent renovations in 1987 – when it was renamed the Mahaffey – and again in 2005. But after sustaining significant damage from back-to-back hurricanes last year, Edwards told council members that urgent repairs are needed.
