For the first time in the history of the Arts Aive! podcast, we’re featuring live, in-studio music. And our guest is Florida native, and resident of Safety Harbor, Robin Taylor Zander.

Robin is an exceptionally talented singer/songwriter whose second album will be released in October. The first of the three songs he plays today, between interview segments, is “All She Wrote,” from the new album.

Zander plays guitar, piano, bass and drums on his recordings, which are produced by studio legend Jack Douglas (Cheap Trick, Aerosmith, John Lennon, the New York Dolls and Supertramp).

The connection to Cheap Trick runs a little deeper. Robin Taylor’s father is Robin Zander, the band’s co-founder and longtime lead vocalist.

Robin Taylor has been a touring utility member of Cheap Trick for seven or eight years now, currently adding additional guitar and vocals to the live shows.

The second of today’s three songs performed in-studio is “Voices,” an ethereal, Beatle-esque ballad that Cheap Trick had a big hit with in 1979. It’s powerful stuff.
