Donald Fagen’s Steely Dan to play the Mahaffey in October

Steely Dan – or what remains of Steely Dan – has been booked into the Mahaffey Theater for two shows, Oct. 15 and 16.
With the 2017 death of co-founder Walter Becker, singer and pianist Donald Fagen became the sole “member” of Steely Dan, which hadn’t technically been a “band” since the early 1970s. Fagen and Becker, who had always written the material, dismissed the other full-time musicians at that time.
From that day until Becker’s death, Steely Dan was just the two of them, in the studio, with hired musicians.
Following more than a decade apart, the two re-convened as Steely Dan in the 1990s and continued to make records and tour the world.
Fagen has continued to tour with “the Steely Dan Band.” He published an autobiography, Eminent Hipsters, in 2013.
Tickets for the two Mahaffey concerts go on sale Friday through Ticketmaster.
