15th Street Farm Launches African Dinner Series to Celebrate the Richness of African Cuisine and Culture
St. Petersburg, FL – March 2025 – 15th Street Farm is proud to introduce its African Dinner Series, a unique culinary journey celebrating the diverse flavors, traditions, and cultures of Africa. Inspired by The Soul of a New Cuisine: A Discovery of the Foods and Flavors of Africa by Marcus Samuelsson, this series will highlight the regional differences in African cuisine, emphasizing the history, ingredients, and techniques that shape each dish.
The first event in the series, West African Culinary Experience, will take place on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, featuring award-winning Chef Terrell Manning. The multi-course meal will showcase the bold and vibrant flavors of West Africa, while offering guests a deeper understanding of the cultural and agricultural influences that shape the region’s cuisine.
A Culinary and Cultural Journey
The African Dinner Series is more than just a dining experience—it is an opportunity to learn, connect, and appreciate the richness of African heritage. 15th Street Farm’s founder and executive director, Emmanuel Roux, was born and raised in North Africa and spent many years living in West Africa, giving him a personal connection to the food and traditions being celebrated. His vision for the series is to bring people together around the table in a way that fosters cultural appreciation, storytelling, and community.
“At 15th Street Farm, we believe in dining with a purpose,” says Emmanuel Roux. “Food is an incredible way to experience a culture, and through this series, we hope to create meaningful connections while showcasing the incredible diversity of African cuisine.”
The First Dinner: A Taste of West Africa
Guests attending the West African Culinary Experience will enjoy a five-course meal prepared by Chef Terrell Manning, a celebrated professional chef, best-selling author, and advocate for health-conscious, preservative-free cooking.
“Food has always been my first love, and every dish tells a story. Partnering with 15th St. Farm for this West African dinner allows me to honor my roots while celebrating the rich culinary traditions that have shaped our community,” says Chef Terrell Manning. “I want these flavors to evoke both a sense of deja vu and deep nostalgia-bringing back memories while creating new ones, conning us through the power of food and shared history.”
The menu will feature traditional West African ingredients and cooking techniques, including:
Fresh Herb Greens & Tomato Salad – Inspired by Kachumbari, served with a smoky charred green onion dressing
Okro & Roasted Sweet Potato Salad – Highlighting the richness of West African produce
Spiced Goat & Jollof Rice – A beloved dish known for its deep flavors and cultural significance
Lamb Meatballs with Obe Ata Glaze – Paired with garden-fresh arugula and broken bread
Kokoti Mint Delight – A tropical finish with coconut, seasonal fruits, and mint
