Curator of Contemporary Art Katherine Pill provides background on the exhibition Borrow and Steal: Appropriation from the Collection, tracing the art historical lineage of appropriation art. This talk will address artists who interrogate ideas of originality and authorship, and will have a particular focus on appropriation as a means of addressing racist histories, and as a feminist takeover of the historically male-dominated art world.
