As part of the 2020 St. Petersburg Celebration of the Arts, St. Petersburg Opera Company celebrates musical diversity and innovation with a carefully-curated performance.
The program includes Berger's Quartet in C-Major for flute, oboe, clarinet and bassoon; "Voi che sapete" from Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro for mezzo soprano (Emily Heumann, pictured, from the cast of the recent hit Rigoletto); Deborah Anderson's Five Songs for Kathleen (texts by Emily Dickinson, Sara Teasdale and Sheila Nickerson) for oboe, piano and mezzo; and Trio Pathetique by Mikhail Glinka, for piano, clarinet and bassoon.
The Tampa-based Kuumba ensemble will explore historical challenges of the African diaspora with a specially-commissioned dance of jubilation in diversity.
Maestro Mark Sforzini, executive and artistic director of St. Pete Opera, will host.
Tickets are $40 for premier table seating, and $25 for general row seating. A VIP table-for-four (closest to the stage) is $200. Tickets are available at stpeteopera.org, or by phone at (727) 823-2040.
