In the wake of recent hurricane events, the Bay Area Apartment Association (BAAA) is partnering with the City of St. Petersburg to host an upcoming Hurricane Recovery Rental Housing Fair on Wednesday, January 22, from 3 - 7 p.m., at The Coliseum (535 4th Ave. N). The fair will help individuals displaced by recent hurricanes connect with rental housing providers in St. Petersburg, Pinellas County, and surrounding counties.
What to expect as an attendee:
"This event is a significant step towards housing stability and recovery for those affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton," said Amy Foster, Housing and Neighborhood Services Administrator for the City of St. Petersburg. "We look forward to partnering with the Bay Area Apartment Association to connect those seeking housing solutions with local housing opportunities."
While the event is being held in St. Pete, households displaced by the hurricanes and who live outside the city are also welcome to attend. Surrounding areas will benefit from the guidance and assistance provided, as the event is designed to be a comprehensive resource for attendees. Additionally, many of the housing providers in attendance are offering discounts, flexible terms, or other concessions to people who were displaced by the hurricanes.

This event supports the City of St. Petersburg's Housing Opportunities For All Plan and Mayor Welch's Housing Opportunities For All Pillar For Progress.
About the Housing Opportunities For All Plan
To address St. Pete's growth and rising housing costs, Mayor Welch launched the Housing Opportunities For All Plan in April 2023. The plan is an expansion to the City's existing 10-year Housing Opportunities for All Plan. Enhancements to the plan include support for renters, financial assistance for residents to preserve existing affordable housing and make properties livable for longer, and incentives and strategic funding to produce more affordable units in St. Pete. More about the plan can be found at

About the Housing Opportunities For All Pillar For Progress
Housing affordability is a linchpin in Mayor Welch's agenda. Better housing opportunities for all raise the level of daily living and pride among residents, create strong neighborhoods and intentional equity, and create a community - not just a place to eat and sleep. To purposefully impact the community, affordable housing programs provide greater incentives for qualified buyers to achieve first-time home ownership and encourage developers to construct more new housing for low- and moderate-income homeowners.
