Faust (1859) is an opera by Charles Gounod with a French libretto by Jules Barbier and Michel Carré from Carré's play Faust et Marguerite, in turn loosely based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Faust, Part One.
St Petersburg Opera's production was performed live at the Palladium Theater in October of 2017.
Themes of evil and sorcery, love and redemption, human folly and divine intercession interplay in this great romantic tragedy of French Opera.
