Featuring St. Petersburg native Roderick Patterson and former Satan & Adam harp player Adam Gussow, the trio Sir Rod & the Blues Doctors will be playing the second annual Sterling Magee Memorial Birthday Celebration at the North End Taphouse on Friday, May 20th from 6 to 9 PM.
The free outdoor show commemorates the life of Magee, aka “Mr. Satan,” with whom Gussow performed and recorded for more than thirty years as Satan & Adam. Sir Rod & the Blues Doctors will be releasing a new live album, Keeping It in the Family, in conjunction with the celebration.
Patterson, who is Magee’s nephew, is delighted to be performing a number of songs from the Satan & Adam songbook.“To me,” says Patterson, “Keeping it in The Family means keeping my uncle Sterling Magee’s positive energy and his overall message of Love for all people expressed through his music. I am honored to be able to carry his torch forward.”
