If you’re searching for a way to give back to your community, the Catalyst’s Impact Connector is here to help. Each week, we feature five organizations in the Tampa Bay area that need your help, whether that’s time, talent, items, funding or simply awareness. We’re certain you’ll find something here that matches your interests and will positively impact the community.

Donate excess food to a local charity or food scraps for compost

Are you a restaurant, grocery store, farm, cafeteria or caterer interested in signing up for Waste No Food Tampa Bay? Donating excess food to local nonprofits is a quick and efficient way to make an impact on your community. The Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Act protects food donors from being liable for the quality of the food. Learn more and sign up at https://networktoendhunger.org/wnfdonor.

Mentor a business owner in the community

SCORE is the nation’s largest network of expert business volunteers whose mission is to foster vibrant small business communities through mentoring and education. SCORE has helped more than 11 million entrepreneurs since 1964. Tampa Bay SCORE chapters are located in Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties. Join SCORE’s team of volunteers to share your talents and expertise with the small business community. Get the details at https://www.score.org/volunteer.

Give a child holiday gifts

Every year, Healthy Start Coalition of Pinellas spreads joy to hundreds of babies and families in need throughout Pinellas County through its Adpot a Child Gift Campaign. Last year, the nonprofit received $62,466 worth of gifts that went directly to 417 children in our community. This year, you can take part by “adopting” a child and purchasing holiday gifts for a family in need. Learn more and sign up here.

Volunteer at ‘Santa’s Workshop’

The Healthy Start Coalition of Pinellas also needs volunteers to help match the holiday gifts received with children’s wish lists and prepare the gifts and gift wrap for delivery to recipient families. If you would like to be one of ‘Santa’s Elves’, sign up at bit.ly/HSCP-volunteer.
