If you’re searching for a way to give back to your community, the Catalyst’s Impact Connector is here to help. Each week, we feature five organizations in the Tampa Bay area that need your help, whether that’s time, talent, items, funding or simply awareness. We’re certain you’ll find something here that matches your interests and will positively impact the community.

Save money and support local nonprofits

From gifts to holiday sweaters and festive decorations, resale shops are perfect for holiday shoppers on a budget. Suncoast Hospice has three resale shops in Pinellas County, and the CASA Thrift Boutique in downtown St. Pete is stocked with tons of holiday items at a low cost, so you can shop while helping fund vital local nonprofits. Get all the details here.

Volunteer at local thrift shops

In addition to shopping to support local nonprofits, you can also volunteer your time. CASA’s thrift boutique is entirely volunteer-run and the three Suncoast Hospice thrift shops are always in need of more help. Volunteers can operate the cash register, stock merchandise, create displays, intake donated items and more. Reach out to CASA or Suncoast Hospice directly to learn more about volunteering.

Adopt an Angel Tree Drive family

Achieva Credit Union and The Salvation Army are partnering for an Angel Tree program. Through Dec. 8, anyone can visit local Achieva branches to select a paper angel ornament off the tree with a child’s Christmas wish list. All of the children participating are from families in need who might otherwise go without presents this year. Return purchased gifts to an Achieva branch for them to be distributed to the families before Christmas.

Clean up the streets of St. Pete

It’s the season of giving, and what better way to give back to the planet and community than joining a holiday clean up? Sans Market in St. Pete is hosting a holiday clean-up event Dec. 17 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. starting at 1037 Central Ave. All clean-up supplies will be provided and Sans Market is also looking for some extra “elves” to volunteer and help coordinate the event. Get the details on signing up here.
