Five ways you can give back this week

Searching for ways to help out in the community but unsure where to start? The Catalyst’s Impact Connector is here to help. Each week, we feature five organizations in the Tampa Bay area that are in need of assistance. We’re confident you’ll find something that matches your interests, location and schedule.
Junior League of St. Petersburg’s 27th Annual Back-to-School Care Fair
For the last 27 years, Care Fair’s goal has been to prepare local students with the necessary resources to start the school year ready for success. In addition to distributing backpacks filled with essential school supplies, the Care Fair provides medical exams, school physicals, street and agency fairs, and family fun.
You can help make an impact this year by shopping for school supplies from the Junior League’s Amazon List: https://rb.gy/u6g8y
Volunteers are needed for the Florida Dream Center’s Adopt-a-Block program. Every Saturday morning, teams go out into the community to provide services to the homeless, home-bound, elderly, veterans, disabled, and low-income individuals and families struggling to make ends meet. Teams assisting with food, clothing, and hygiene distribution are needed in Lealman and Tarpon Springs. Learn more about the program at floridadreamcenter.org/get-involved/.
Oyster Shell Recycling Program
Tampa Bay Watch is seeking the help of a few dedicated volunteers to ensure their Oyster Shell Recycling Program continues its progress toward a cleaner bay. Training includes shadowing a project manager by riding along and assisting on the run to pick up oyster shells from restaurants. Training can be arranged on weekday mornings from 8 a.m. to noon. Email Rachel Arndt at rarndt@tampabaywatch.org with a few potential training dates to get started.
Donate Items to Habitat ReStore
Each year the ReStores keep nearly 800 tons of reusable materials from landfills. Your new or gently used household goods and building supplies can help Habitat for Humanity partner with local families to build safe and affordable homes. Learn More
Experience a St. Pete staple in a new way by volunteering your time, talents and knowledge at the Dali Museum. When you volunteer at the museum, your areas of opportunity include guest relations, education, membership, marketing, our garden, and more. Training is provided and volunteers receive special benefits for their service. Opportunities for all ages and abilities are available at thedali.org/join/volunteer.
