If you’re searching for a way to give back to your community, the Catalyst’s Impact Connector is here to help. Each week, we feature five organizations in the Tampa Bay area that need your help, whether that’s time, talent, items, funding or simply awareness. We’re certain you’ll find something here that matches your interests and positively impacts the community.

Schlepp shells to improve our environment

Tampa Bay Watch needs your help operating its “Shells to Shorelines” program, which recycles oyster shells from local restaurants and puts them back in the Tampa Bay to filter the water, provide habitat and stabilize the shoreline. The nonprofit relies on thousands of volunteers to make its programs happen. Email Richard Radigan, the program manager, to volunteer: rradigan@tampabaywatch.org.

Distribute groceries to families in need

A free grocery distribution event is held every Saturday at Tangerine Plaza. The nonprofit Positive Impact Worldwide partners with Publix, Sam’s Club, Aldi and The Fresh Market to ensure equitable access to nutritious food for all. Volunteers are needed to help load groceries and keep the busy car line running smoothly. Learn more and sign up here.

Become an ambassador for your city

The St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce is looking for volunteers to serve as Chamber Ambassadors,  highly motivated, enthusiastic and articulate business professionals who serve as the backbone of the Chamber’s membership engagement program. Ambassadors serve as liaisons between Chamber staff and the members, as well as representing the Chamber at a variety of events. Get the details on the Chamber’s website.

Stock shelves that build homes

Beat the heat and give back to your community. Habitat ReStore volunteers help sort donations, prep items for the sales floor and provide great customer service. Sign up at habitatpwp.org/volunteer. Shopping at Habitat ReStore also helps support our local Habitat for Humanity as the nonprofit builds homes in record-breaking numbers. Check out our nearest ReStore at 13355 49th St North Suite B, Clearwater 33762.

Have fun and support people with disabilities

Help Us Gather is a local nonprofit that plans social events for people with disabilities. Volunteer your time at the next movie night, bowling event or beach party by visiting HelpUsGather.org.

By engaging in these five impactful ways to give back, we can empower our communities and contribute to a more compassionate society. If your organization is looking for volunteers, click here to submit your opportunity. We’ll get the word out to our readers.
