The Hustle

Name: Lisa Piazza (Nest Watch)

Posted By Keara McGraw

"I've been a stay-at-home mom since 1998, but now that my children are grown, I've found myself with more free time and flexibility," Lisa Piazza writes on her NestWatch website. "I've decided to put my organizational and management skills to work by helping clients manage their homes. I'm able to provide the on-site attention that clients need. I'm a 5-minute drive to St Pete Beach and 10 minutes from DTSP, ready to be your on-call, boots-on-the-ground assistant."

Years in Tampa Bay

I have lived in Tampa Bay for three years and I love it! I was born in Louisville, Kentucky and have also resided in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Hustle (job)

I am the owner/operator of NestWatch Home Assistant.

What do you do?

I offer a variety of services for homeowners who need help with their home due to their busy daily routines or busy travel schedules, as well as second home owners who can’t be here daily.

Why do you do it?

My business is full of opportunity to do the things I enjoy including managing schedules and projects, organizing homes and playing a supporting role in simplifying others’ lives.

What was your Catalyst? (How did you get started?)

After we sent our youngest off to college, my job managing my family came to an end. I began volunteering in the Tampa Bay community and took up pickleball. My interest was piqued when speaking with a pickleball friend who mentioned he had a client who had purchased a condominium here in St Pete and needed someone to help her manage renovations, to avoid her making frequent trips here. The list of things she needed assistance with were in my wheelhouse. We met, and I’ve been working with her and her husband for almost two years.

What’s a common misconception or unknown aspect of what you do?

A common misconception about my business is that I am a property management company. I do, however, help manage your home to simplify your life.

What’s the most challenging part of your Hustle?

The most challenging part of my hustle is getting the word out that a service like NestWatch exists.

What’s the most valuable piece of business advice/insight that’s helped you?

I value client communication. One of my favorite sayings is “You have two ears and one mouth for a reason.” I listen to my clients’ needs to understand and provide a solution for them.
