JPMorgan Chase has announced major renovation plans for its Highland Oaks campus and downtown Tampa office.

The investment banking giant is one of Tampa Bay’s top employers and contributors to the area’s economy, and this region is one of the key strategic locations in the country.

Chase is making a multi-billion dollar investment in its branch network by adding 500 branches in the country and renovating existing ones. Five new Chase locations are expected to open in the next three years across West Florida.

“St. Petersburg is home to our valued customers, clients, employees and community partners. By expanding our branch network here and in the surrounding communities, we will not only contribute to local economic growth, but we will also help fuel the financial health and wealth of the St. Pete community, its people and its business,” said Rebeccea Lieberher, Consumer Banking Market Director at Chase.

The renovations will create nearly 700 local construction jobs annually, increasing economic activity in Tampa over $200 million. An independent study by Deloitte discovered that with its thousands of employees and operations, the firm contributes $2.8 billion annual economic activity to Tampa Bay and 7,800 jobs across multiple local industries.

The 450,000-square-foot Highland Oaks campus consists of three buildings, housing over 3,000 JPMorgan Chase employees across several lines of business and a global payment center, which supports processing of a daily average of $10 trillion in payments.

The downtown Tampa office will be expanded an additional 9,000 square feet, and it currently has offices for over 80 Commercial Banking and Private Bank employees and a Private Bank client center.

The renovations will update both locations to be more modern, flexible and collaborative work spaces.

Chase has also taken sustainability initiatives, such as installation of nearly 8,700 solar panels on the Highland Oaks campus in recent years, which will provide around 40% of the location’s energy.

The renovations and expansion will include several energy efficient building systems and technology to help secure Net Zero carbon operations. This will include carbon-neutral carpet across most of the office floors, lighting fixtures and occupancy sensors to reduce energy used for electricity and automatic faucets and water-efficient plumbing fixtures to reduce net water use by 35%.

Chase has resided in Tampa Bay for over five decades and has supported the community through financing businesses, schools, hospitals and other projects.

Across Tampa Bay and West Florida, the firm serves more than 865,000 consumers and 77,700 small businesses through more than 60 local Chase branches. The firm’s two local Community Managers are focused on improving the financial health and wealth of underserved individuals, communities and businesses in the region.

“We are proud to continue to contribute to the city’s progress and prosperity,” said Lieberher.
