Looking forward: The month of June in the arts

If you’re not a fan of red-hot comedian Nikki Glaser, you might want to schedule a mid-June vacation. She’s doing five shows over four days at two venues.
Rescheduled from earlier dates, Glaser’s performances at St. Petersburg’s Mahaffey Theater are June 12 (7 and 9:30 p.m.) and June 13 (7 and 9:30 p.m.).
The Nikkster heads up to St. Augustine on the 14th, only to re-appear at the (much larger) BayCare Sound (Clearwater) at 7:30 p.m.
AND The firestorm that is Metallica also appears on multiple dates, both of them at Raymond James Stadium: June 6 (with Limp Bizkit and Ice Nine Kills) and June 8 (with Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies).
Welcome veterans
The Seminole Hard Rock Event Center welcomes the ageless Dionne Warwick June 18.
Also on the 18th: Lou Gramm, the original lead singer and frontman for Foreigner, visits the Palladium Theater.
At Ruth Eckerd Hall June 20: Jon Anderson, the original lead singer and frontman for Yes.
Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band return for their apparently annual bay area visit June 21 at the BayCare Sound.
Night Ranger plays the Capitol Theatre June 6.

The month in theater
The touring company of the hit Broadway musical Shucked is onstage at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts (Morsani Hall) June 3-6.
A Delicious Evening of Mad Panic, presented by The Blacksmiths and directed by Bob Devin Jones, is onstage June 5-7 at The Studio@620.
St. Petersburg Opera Company pulls out all the stops for Bizet’s steamy Carmen, June 6, 8, 13 and 15 at the Palladium Theater. With full orchestra.
Opening June 6 at Stageworks Theatre is Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill, the one-woman show that finds jazz singer Billie Holiday onstage for one of her final performances. Orlando’s Desiree Montes stars in the dramatic musical, running through June 29..
The Pulitzer Prize-winning Fat Ham continues at American Stage through June 22 (it opened last week). It’s a re-working of Hamlet, set at a North Carolina backyard barbecue.
The House of Future Memory opens June 13 at freeFall Theatre, which describes the season finale as a “daring theatrical experiment” blending music, drama, comedy, improvisation and Generative AI.
Undaunted by Tallahassee’s slings, arrows and revoked funding, the Tampa International Fringe Festival is full speed ahead for June 11-22 at The Commodore & the Kress Contemporary, in Ybor City.
