Drawing its name from the French slang word for coffee (and its original African name), Kahwa Coffee roasts and brews here in St. Petersburg.
The roasting process began in 2006, with the first cafe opening in the St. Pete downtown area the same year. Since then, the company has grown significantly. Several cafes scatter throughout St. Petersburg and beyond into the greater Tampa Bay area. It has also expanded into online shopping, selling its coffee to buyers around the continental United States. In a little more than a decade, Kahwa Coffee has become a fierce competitor with Starbucks and other industry giants.
