PSTA announces new board member, 2020 executive committee

The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority announced the appointment of Pinellas County Commissioner Ken Welch to the PSTA board, as well as the slate of executive committee members for 2020, in a press release Wednesday.

The 2020 executive committee is as follows: Chair – Commissioner Joe Barkley, Bellair Bluffs; Vice Chair – Commissioner Pat Gerard, Pinellas County; Secretary/Treasurer – Council member Gina Driscoll, St. Petersburg; At Large Executive Committee Member – Council member Dan Saracki, Oldsmar; Past Chair – Commissioner Janet Long, Pinellas County.

Barkley, who retired from the insurance industry in 2018 after more than 40 years as an agent, corporate executive and agency owner, has also served on the City of Belleair Bluffs Commission since 2009. Barkley has served on the PSTA Board of Directors since 2013.

Welch, who previously served on the board from 2006 to 2016, was elected to the Pinellas County Commission in 2000. He served as chair of the commission in 2006, 2013 and 2018. Welch will rejoin the board after a three year absence, to replace Commissioner David Eggers.
