SunTrust Banks, Inc. (NYSE: STI) announced today that it has appointed Fermin “JJ” Miranda as the bank’s Southwest Florida Market president. JJ was most recently with Cadence Bank where he worked in Business Banking as part of the local leadership team in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. He will be based in SunTrust’s Sarasota office. “JJ will be key to leading the growth of our Commercial Banking business in Southwest Florida. His more than 20 years of banking experience will be critical to our clients and teammates. JJ is well positioned to lead the delivery of our One Team approach in the market and is well aligned to our purpose of Lighting the Way to Financial Well-Being,” said Tim Schar, Tampa Bay Market president for SunTrust. JJ has a wealth of local knowledge and community involvement in Southwest Florida. He currently serves on the University of South Florida SM College of Business Advisory Board, the Bradenton Economic Development Corporation Board, and the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast Corporate Board. Some of his past professional and community service include: Chair National Hispanic Advisory Council for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America, Trustee of New College of Florida, Bradenton Economic Development Corp. Board Member, and Big Brothers and Big Sisters Manatee County Board Chair. JJ attended the University of Florida.
