The Homeless Empowerment Program (HEP), a Clearwater-based non-profit providing shelter and critical support services to homeless individuals and families, announced the appointment of Katerina Gerakios-Siren as Executive Vice President of Operations this January. Gerakios-Siren brings with her a wealth of experience in operations, management, community development, finance and budgeting to this role. HEP’s Executive Vice President of Operations plays a crucial part in the strategic development and coordination of programs to support the organization’s overall Mission, which is to provide homeless and low-income individuals and families, including Veterans, with housing, food, clothing and support services necessary to obtain self-sufficiency and improved quality of life. Gerakios-Siren has a distinguished career with over 15 years of relevant experience, and she has direct experience working with the homeless population and is truly empathetic to the wide range of challenges faced by those HEP serves. Her background within government agencies, including the City of Clearwater, Pinellas County and beyond, will be a tremendous asset to the organization as it strives to break the cycle of homelessness. “It was important to me that the role be filled by someone who would be a strong match for our organizational culture, had a genuine heart for our Mission and the knowledge and experience necessary to aid us in driving our Vision and strategic plans forward. I wholeheartedly feel we have found all of these qualities in Mrs. Katerina Gerakios-Siren,” said Ashley Lowery, HEP President & CEO. “We are excited to welcome Katerina to our team and look forward to her contributions.” Gerakios-Siren will work closely with the HEP team internally, as well as externally with government officials and key individuals to continue building and developing programs in alignment with HEP's Mission and values. "I am honored and excited to join HEP, a non-profit organization that is making tangible difference in the lives of so many. I am inspired by the organization's mission and deeply committed to contributing my skills to help empower individuals and families to achieve stability and hope. I share the CEO's vision of creating a community where everyone has the opportunity to achieve stability and thrive. I look forward to working with the incredible team here to make a meaningful impact.”
