BayCare Health Systems has named Larry J. Costello the president of BayCare Health Plans. This enterprise, which is a subsidiary of BayCare, recently launched its first products, two Medicare Advantage (HMO) plans called BayCarePlus.
Costello, who was the regional president of East Central Region (Ohio, Indiana and Michigan) at Humana, will be the strategic leader and the head of operations of BayCare Health Plans. He will also be responsible for business leadership development, sales, operations, compliance and financial objectives.
“We’re pleased to bring Costello to lead BayCare Health Plans,” said Tommy Inzina, president and chief executive officer at BayCare. “His experience and leadership in the insurance business will help move forward our vision for the Medicare Advantage products.”
Costello comes to BayCare with more than 20 years of leadership experience in health insurance. During his tenure at Humana, he led the strategic direction and growth of the region. He was responsible for clinical management, product pricing, bids, filings and hospital and provider negotiations. He also managed 415 clinical and operations associates.
Prior to his role at Humana, Costello served as the regional vice president of Southeast Region (Virginia to Florida) at Universal American (UAM), director of National Distribution at WellCare and director of sales and marketing at The Health Plan in Massillon, Ohio.
