SHINE MURAL FESTIVAL 2023: Sarah Sheppard with her work, at 2336 5th Avenue S. Photo provided.
It’d be tough not to notice that certain parts of St. Pete got a little more colorful over the last nine days. Between Oct. 13 and 22, a total of 18 new murals went up on otherwise drab and/or uninteresting outer walls, the main event in the city’s 9th annual SHINE Mural Festival.
A combination of local, national and international artists descended on downtown and and went big, and the results run the gamut from abstract to impressionistic to realistic to graffiti-style.
