Upcoming Hollander event to showcase local authors
Six local authors will come together Jan. 14 at the Hollander Hotel for a free event celebrating the written word.
St. Petersburg Sunshine City: A Local Authors Showcase is scheduled for 2 to 5 p.m. on the Hollander’s pool-area stage, weather permitting.
Participating authors are Paul Wilborn (Florida Hustle), Brittany Ranew (Lion of Fire), Kerry Kriseman (Accidental First Lady), Fabio Dal Boni (An Extra Life), Shana Smith (Islands of Cedars) and William Berry (Stories That Move).
Five of the authors’ books are published by St. Petersburg Press, which is owned by the St. Petersburg Group, parent company of the St. Pete Catalyst.
The event is being organized by Kriseman, whose husband Rick was St. Petersburg’s mayor from 2014 to 2022. Her book’s subtitle is On the Front Lines (and Behind the Scenes) of Local Politics.
“We all have diverse stories to tell, and I think telling our stories helps create community,” Kriseman said. “And couldn’t we all use a little more of that?
“And those looking for more insight into particular author journeys, and who enjoy meeting authors, this can be inspiring for people considering writing their own book, whether it’s fiction or non-fiction, in 2024.”
Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
