Comedian Myq Kaplan, renowned for his intellectual humor and clever wordplay, originally intended to pursue a career in music, but found some of his favorite stage moments, the banter and storytelling between songs, this lead him to a captivating career in comedy with appearances on major platforms including The Tonight Show, Conan, Letterman, James Corden, Seth Meyers, Comedy Central, Last Comic Standing, and America’s Got Talent.
Myq Kaplan brings his sharp wit and intellectual humor to Sunshine Comedy Club in St Pete Beach on Sunday September 22nd at 7pm for a one night unforgettable event of comedy.
Kaplan’s impressive resume includes a half-hour special on Comedy Central, the acclaimed one-hour stand-up special Small, Dork, and Handsome on Amazon, and his recent Dry Bar Comedy Special Live From The Universe, which has garnered significant attention. His debut album, Vegan Mind Meld, was a top 10 comedy album on iTunes, and his latest release, A.K.A., debuted at #1 and was praised by the NY Times for its “invigoratingly funny” content.
A comedy innovator, his comedic art spans a multitude of mediums. Recently Kaplan teamed up with illustrator and visual artist Ramin Nazer, for a visual journey through jokes in a book called Heart Brain Art Train. Music remains an integral part of Kaplan’s life. A talented guitarist and singer-songwriter, Kaplan has released albums such as Many Mini Musics and Please Be Seated (a collaboration with Micah Sherman). He’s never far from a guitar or ukulele.
Kaplan hosts the popular podcast Broccoli and Ice Cream, where he invites guests to discuss the work of their life (the “broccoli”) and their joys (the “ice cream”).
