105-year-old St Petersburg company relocates its headquarters
Commercial Partners Realty (CPR) team of Scott Clendening and Austin Karrick represented the tenant, George F Young, Inc. (GFY) and Wendy Giffin of Cushman and Wakefield represented the landlord in the lease of their new headquarters office at 830 Central Ave, St Petersburg, FL. GFY will occupy all of the 5th floor and a portion of the 2nd floor at their new office building totaling just over 13,000 sf.
“After careful consideration, we chose a new location that would not only best serve our current and future employees, while also providing convenient access to our team for both our private and governmental clients. We are very excited about our new location and to stay in Downtown St. Petersburg. Being active in our community is in our genes, and we look forward to continuing this great tradition,” said Bill Kent, President/CEO.
Matt Walker, Sr. Vice President Engineering, added, “We look forward to celebrating the new office with our entire staff and our clients. Change is great, but we’re happy to continue to be headquartered in St. Petersburg to best serve our clients and local communities,”.
It was imperative that GFY stay in the Downtown St Pete market, as they see it as their home and provide many services to both private and municipal services in and around the core. This location secures that, and not only provides a fantastic view of the Tropicana redevelopment site but provides great access to all of St Pete’s wonderful food and entertainment establishments.
However, the search was not without its challenges. “The unique requirements of the operations of GFY presented some hurdles, especially when looking at Downtown Core office space. We found a great opportunity in 830 Central that will create a collaborative and updated office environment for the staff and an easily accessible space for the field crew and their equipment. Wendy and the ownership team did a wonderful job of accommodating and helping to create a mutually beneficial deal for both parties.” said Austin Karrick, Vice President and Broker of CPR.
The official move will take place in the second quarter of 2025 as the space will need reconfiguration. In the meantime, GFY will continue to serve its clients through their current location at 299 MLK, which has been their headquarters since 1983.
The current location is ripe for a redevelopment opportunity as it sits on 1.42 acres and has DC-2 zoning. Scott and Austin represent the ownership on the disposition opportunity and can be contacted at 727-822-4715.
