St. Petersburg residents will have a unique opportunity to meet and train with a highly respected figure in traditional Okinawan karate this week.

Master David Joslin, a 9th-degree black belt in Isshin-Ryu Karate, will visit St. Petersburg Karate Academy on March 13 from 5:30–6:30 PM for a special community event. The evening will include karate demonstrations, games, pizza, and opportunities for students and families to experience traditional Isshin-Ryu training.

Master Joslin received his Sho Dan (1st-degree black belt) in 1978 from Willie Adams, President of the KIAI Isshin-Ryu Karate Association and world champion competitor. In 2017, he was promoted to Ku Dan (9th-degree black belt) by Grandmaster Adams in recognition of his decades of dedication to teaching and preserving the art.
